The importance of newborn Photography

Expecting a baby is an important milestone for your family! We all wish babies would stay that small for a little longer but the truth is that they grow and change quickly in their first weeks of life.

Newborn photography is a way to freeze those memories (and their tiny features) so that parents can cherish them forever. This type of session captures the bonding between the family members and all those tiny details of your baby, like their tiny hands and feet.

Can you imagine looking at those captured moments in 20 years, when your “baby” is a grown up, ready to go to college and about to start their new journey? Every family has a story to tell and to be able to document this journey in the form of pictures is invaluable.

As a newborn photographer, I’m committed to provide my clients not only beautiful pictures, but also curated artwork that will be proudly displayed in their home and passed down for generations. Digital pictures are great to share with family and friends, but having something tangible; something you can actually look from time to time, has a very emotional and lasting value. Plus we all know electronic devices can fail and those digitals can be gone if they were not saved carefully.

Newborn photography is an investment for families because they are investing in preserving their memories that will last for a lifetime. Hiring a professional who is trained and specialized in newborn photography ensures that your baby will be posed safely and you’ll get beautiful pictures that will be turned into artwork for your home. Years of experience goes into creating meaningful artwork.

Similar to when you’re purchasing something very valuable, there are very important things you should consider when hiring a photographer:

  1. Make sure this person is specialized in newborn photography and trained in posing newborns safely. Not every pose is meant to be for every baby! We always follow the baby’s lead. This session is all about patience to pose the baby very carefully, and taking breaks whenever the baby needs to be fed.

  2. A photographer needs a trained eye, knows about angles, has good lighting skills, and owns the right equipment.

  3. Outfits and props for your baby must be very carefully selected. Personally, I love using natural fibers such as alpaca knits and cotton.

  4. Full service photographers provide a high end experience because they are the ones who take care of everything so you don’t have to worry about more than enjoying the resulting art. These printed products are curated and carefully chosen from professional labs who offer superior materials and museum grade products, that are meant to preserve your memories for a long time.

Important: It’s best to schedule your session when you’re in your second trimester so you can ensure availability. Usually photographers book a certain amount of babies per month, based on baby’s due date. The actual date of the session for your baby will be booked once you let your photographer know that baby is here and the pediatrician confirms baby is healthy!
