Morristown, NJ Newborn Photographer | Prepping for your baby’s Studio Newborn Photoshoot

Studio Newborn sessions are best held when babies are within the first 12 days from birth.

Important: Right after your baby’s pediatrician gives the ok that baby is healthy, we can schedule the session. All surfaces, wraps, outfits and props will be cleaned and disinfected before baby’s arrival.

BEFORE THE SESSION:

  • Please make sure to keep baby awake at least 2 hours before the session. Don’t let baby sleep beforehand, instead try giving him/her a bath, tickle his/her toes, have them kick naked on the bed. This will ensure those sleepy newborn pictures.

  • Please feed baby 2-3 hours prior to session and prepare to feed baby again as soon as you arrive to the studio. We can have pauses in between the session to feed the baby. Take your time!

  • Even if baby is not using the pacifier, I would still suggest to bring one. Sometimes babies just need to suck on something to relax into a pose.

  • Dress baby in a zip/button up sleeper. Something with a loose fitting and nothing that needs to be pulled over their head.

  • I suggest parents to wear comfy clothing and dress with layers. The room will be set around 80 degrees for baby to be comfortable in.

  • Bring an extra outfit in case baby soils your clothing, this happens very often.

  • If siblings are part of the session, please arrange for someone to be able to take them home after they had the pictures taken with baby. Since this session can take 4 hours, kids can get restless and noisy which it can affect the sleep of the baby.

DURING THE SESSION:

Please relax and enjoy of the refreshments I have at the studio. Coffee and tea are available, as well as other snacks. Sometimes I will ask you or your partner's help being a spotter for the baby during certain poses.

AFTER THE SESSION:

2-3 business days after your session took place, we will schedule our video call (at your convenience) so we can go through your ordering appointment. Once we have selected your favorite portraits and products, it will take 15 business days to receive the final retouched digitals and physical goods.

SOME OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER

How long does the session take?

This session takes between 3-4 hours, baby is always the boss and we only can do poses that baby allows us to do.

Do I need to know how pose for parents shots?

I’m here to guide and help to bring the best out of you and your little one. I have a special workflow in which we do a series of pictures with parents.

What do I need to bring to the session?

Only the usual baby's stuff such as a bottles with pumped milk/formula, receiving blanket, milk bottle diapers, wipes, pacifier, etc. If you have any heirlooms or anything you’d like incorporated into the session, you're welcome to bring them, but just me know before the session so I can add it to my planning.

What should parents wear for the session?

Since this type of session is focused on baby, parents shots are focus only from torso and up. You are okay wearing sweats or comfy pants.

Mom can wear a turtle neck shirt, tank tops, regular t-shirt. Dad can wear a t-shirt, polo shirt, turtleneck or button down shirt. I highly suggest using neutral colors such as white, black, gray or beige.

I understand life gets busy with a new baby, so you can change clothing and do your own makeup/hair at the studio. Please feel free to relax and eat something while I’m working with your baby.

I hope all this info helps you to be prepared so the session can go smooth as possible. I am truly honored to document this incredible moment for you and your family. I can’t wait to meet your sweet baby!

XOXO,

Francesca
